My name is Danila Shkaev, and I am the Editor-in-Chief of The Russian Glass. I come from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, where I was born.
I came to the United Kingdom when I was 10 to study. I have since finished high school, and am now studying History, Politics and Economics at University College London’s Slavonic and East European Studies department.
Studying in the UK, I have heard a lot of opinions on Russia – a lot of stereotypes, a lot of misconceptions and a general lack of understanding on the Russian way of life.
The Russian Glass has been established as means of a native Russian to explain how Russia works and what turns its cogs. I believe that, for a country one has yet to declare insignificant, it is vital that people understand what did, is, and will happen.
