“British” strain of COVID-19 found in Russia

For the first time in Russia, the mutated strain of coronavirus has been found in a person who has recently returned from the United Kingdom.

The new strain has been announced in mid-December, and has been claimed to be 70% more infectious, although experts say no increase in lethality of the virus has been detected.

The news is announced as Russia experiences a fall in new infections of the virus. Statistics for 10th January show a total of 22851 new infections, however, Russia still stands on the 3rd place by new infections, and on the 4th with all infections recorded.
